Terry wants to inspire a change in our youth by sharing important information to allow that change.  Peer Pressure among our youth is extreme!

Friendships, underage drinking, drug use, distracted driving and making good choices are the topics I'd like to address.  Our youth can make a change in their own life or in someone else's.  Being a role model and making good choices leads to success!

I want to speak to your youth at Church, Conferences, Rallies, workshops, Schools, Corporate events and colleges.

Underage drinking is problem:  Underage Drinking and Drivng is a problem as well.  I need your help to make a change in our communities, our world and your life.  You can allow that change to occur by being who you are and staying away from those who choose to use drugs and alcohol.  The change begins with YOU!  I'd like to share my message with you.  Tom McKnight and I wish to speak to your group or organization to make a difference in those young lives effected by peer pressure to use drugs and alcohol.  Want to hear our message?  Make a change.  Contact me for more information for presenting to your next event.  443-995-5367 or terryober22@gmail.com

Terry Ober is a retired Maryland State Trooper (26 years of service), former D.A.R.E. Officer, former Community Traffic Safety Coordinator for three Maryland counties and a former Truancy Officer for Queen Anne’s County’s Board of Education, a member of the Queen Anne’s County Drug and Alcohol Coalition, Kent County Adolescent Substance Abuse Coalition and the Queen Anne’s County Drug Free Coalition.  Terry is the Administrator/Instructor for the RESET Program (early intervention education for youth involving drugs and/or alcohol concerns) the Drug Awareness Chairman for the Kent Island Elks and an instructor for the county’s Smoking Cessation Program.  Terry has volunteered with MADD since 1995 and is currently a Regional Operations Council member volunteering his time to keep drunk drivers off our roadways.  Terry is a motivational speaker and wants to help young people attain their goals.  Terry is a husband and father of two daughters and currently employed as the "At Risk" Coordinator for Queen Anne's County Board of Education.

Tom McKnight, 20 years (way to go Tom!) of sobriety since 1991, MADD volunteer since 2007, a public speaker to educate our youth about the dangers and costs relating to drunk driving.  He is an instructor for RESET Program, an early intervention education for youth involved in drug and alcohol use.  Tom is a father of two daughters.  Visit Tom on his website: www.tomin3d.weebly.com

 Workshop Overview:

The key points to our workshop are to have our youth understand the seriousness of drinking and driving among our teens.  Explaining the importance of having a driver’s license and how quickly they can loose it.  Mr. Terry shares important information related to serious injuries and death among our teens, even if they don’t drive.  Explaining why teens are “Highest Risk” among all drivers.  Sharing more stats related to teen crashes, teen seat belt usage, and drinking and driving are shared during the lecture.  Motor vehicle laws, penalties and costs to the driver and families due to a DUI arrest.  Effects of alcohol to the developing brain of a young person are an important message for our youth.  Mr. Terry explains how drugs and alcohol will affect their goals and life style.

Tom relates personal experiences he had with alcohol and drugs as a teen and into early adult hood.  Through detailed humorous, but serious details of his involvement with alcohol, Tom relates to the importance of good friends, make good choices and having goals in life to be an asset to their community.  Tom also has a music power point presentation of pictures involving crashes caused by alcohol to conclude his information.  Tom also shares a video of a dear friend killed in an auto crash by a Impaired driver in 2008.

Mr. Terry shares some details of death notifications he had to make during his State Police career and how he and the families were affected from these deaths.

Interactive opportunities exist throughout the presentation from questions from the teens to personal thoughts of the presenters.

Mr. Terry and Tom allow the teens to receive stats and important information to take back to their SADD programs to have a better understanding of how alcohol effects our youth and may allow them to plan activities to battle underage drinking in their communities.

Mr. Terry and Tom have been involved in presentations with local commercial driving schools, numerous presentations to High School Health classes, High Schools Assemblies, Vermont Governor's Youth Leadership Conferences (2009 & 2010), three SADD National Conferences (2009, 2010 and 2011) and participated in two Youth Summit Expos and one Youth RALLY with workshops and presentations to our youth.  Both Tom and Terry are volunteers with Mother’s Against Drunk Drivers and are among the speakers at the quarterly Victim Impact Panel conducted for convicted drunk drivers by the Courts.  Terry has been volunteering with Maryland MADD since 1995 and is currently a member of the Regional Operations Council for Maryland MADD.  Tom has been volunteering for MADD since 2008.  Tom and Terry are also involved as instructors in a early intervention drug and alcohol education program RESET, which provides the Courts an alternative sentencing option for our youth who are arrested for drug and/or alcohol use.

Tom and Terry would like to be at your event next!
